fuseproject — Y Water bottle

Bottled-water-drinkers have surely noticed Poland Springs making the switch to lightweight bottles; once empty, the easily-crushed containers remind you that what was a vessel five minutes ago has now become garbage.
Yves Behar’s fuseproject and L.A.-based Y Water–targeting vitamin-enriched water at children–are moving in the opposite direction, with a distinctive [...]

By Ty Wenzel • Apr 8th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!, Interiors Exteriors, Product & Merch

The Sunjar: A Solar Powered Jar Full Of Sunshine
This would be a hit in Norway or right here in the North East during the doldrums of Winter (I kind of wish I had one the entire month of March). And it’s more humane than catching those adorable fireflies and trapping them in a jar [...]

Angry Little Girls Bag

By Ty Wenzel • Apr 1st, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!, Product & Merch

The reusable grocery bag trend, a highly-visible subset of the larger eco-sensitivity trend currently swelling throughout consumer consumption, is reaching a fevered pitch. And why not? It’s easy, increasingly fashionable, and, most importantly, great for the environment. Occasionally, it’s also refreshingly humorous.
In case you ever get the feeling that simply carrying a couple tote bags [...]

Kimora Lee Simmons is going to recycle her dog

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

This is taking recycling to a new extreme. Cremating a pet isn't enough these days, now you can turn your beloved furry friend's ashes into diamonds. Of course, Kimora Lee Simmons thinks this is a fantastic idea. And I'm pretty sure it's not because she's all about being green and recycling a dead dog. I [...]

360 vodka makes you eco-friendly drunk

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

I'd say that alcohol definitely has some green aspects; I mean, it's often a principal factor in encouraging people to engage in enjoyable "back to nature" style activities like open-air urination and public nudity.
That said, would the label "eco-friendly" encourage consumers to buy a particular brand of booze? The folks at McCormick Distilling must [...]

Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell are in a green battle

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

Who's greener, Ryan Seacrest, or Simon Cowell? These two are ready to duke it out over which of them is a more environmentally friendly person.
Unfortunately it looks like they're both on the losing side of the battle. Ryan mentioned on his radio show that he saw Simon cruising around Hollywood in an environmentally unfriendly, $1million [...]

Jenna Jameson wants Charlize Theron to get naked for PETA

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

Jenna Jameson is doing her best to get Charlize Theron naked for PETA. As the face of the PETA Pleather Yourself campaign, she is hoping to get the Oscar winning actress to take part in something similar. Charlize is really hot and all, but I'm not sure why Jenna has such a fixation on getting [...]

Vivavi: Ergonomic sustainability from Lazy E

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

Funny, I had heard of the Lazy Environmentalist, Josh Dorfman, but I had not heard of his eco-friendly furniture and home design center, called Vivavi, until today. The Home Project’s salty eggcups

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

This great idea from The Home Project takes an old Portuguese tradition of preserving eggs using salt to a whole new level by using a crochet technique to bind salt crystals together into egg cup shapes. The beautiful crockery that would look fab as part of your Easter spread is entirely biodegradable. [Via Treehugger]

Recycle Bank Raises $13M (and Recycling Rates to 90%)

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

What if there were a reason to recycle? Wouldn't it be cool if you were, in some way, reimbursed for all that sticky fingered, paper cutting work that you do every Wednesday evening?
I mean, after all, you are performing a service. Basically, you're a miner. Mining your trash for aluminum, PET plastic, silica and cellulose. [...]

Valentino’s flirty A-line

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Fashion & Beauty, Green Me Baby!

I’ll admit it — if I don’t have a chance to see them in person, the couture shows only barely make my radar. In my mind, they’re way more art than fashion. But it’s true, they do set the tone of things to come, and I noticed two very conistant trends this season: [...]

Pre-Spring eco fashion window shopping

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Fashion & Beauty, Green Me Baby!

With all the nerves and worry about the economy these days, it’s gotten a little harder to daydream about extravagant shopping. Plus, M and I were caught up in the recent surge in credit card fraud (though our bank is handling things very well) so we’re a little wary about whipping out the plastic [...]

By Ty Wenzel • Mar 24th, 2008 • Category: Green Me Baby!

Imagine a world where trash is so valuable that, instead of throwing it away, the post man comes and picks it up from your doorstep and whisks it off to some exotic location to be re-used, re-purposed or recycled.
Well, that day may actually be here. Except, instead of any old trash…it's only small electronic gadgets [...]
