Located in Pozuelo de Alarcon in Madrid, Spain, this futuristic home design features a facade of curved walls of stone dark granite and marble travertine, providing privacy as well as a [...]]]> A winding maze of sculptural granite and glass, this modern zen house by Spanish architects A-cero makes a unique statement within its lush surroundings. Located in Pozuelo de Alarcon in Madrid, Spain, this futuristic home design features a facade of curved walls of stone dark granite and marble travertine, providing privacy as well as a dramatic welcome. A water feature flows from outside to the entry, creating a seamless transition to the interior environment. The house is situated on a slope, inclined toward a lake, allowing for an upper and a lower terrace for outdoor living and entertaining. Inside, the house is divided into upper and lower levels. An upstairs hall, lined with skylights, leads to the essence of luxury living – a spacious kitchen, wine vault, dining room, lounge and library; and continues deeper into the home’s private living spaces – the master bedroom, dressing area, bathroom, an indoor swimming pool and a gym. A set of stairs leads you downstairs to the lower level, where you’ll find the games room, home theater, kids’ and guests bedrooms, and a service area. Every room features glass walls, tinted for privacy and aesthetic interest. Adding to the home’s futuristic appeal, this high-tech zen design is computerized, putting computerized lighting, safety, blinds and air conditioning controls at the owners’ fingertips. Located in Moskovskaya Oblast, Russia, this unusual raised home design took center stage and even picked up a number of awards along the way. Distinctive for their vibrant red color and beach home exteriors, these guest houses are compact, lightweight homes of wood, raised to adapt to the hillside. Minimalist interiors lead out to a simple but stunning semi-circular balcony – the home’s hotspot, according to Kuzembaev, “A man always wants to climb higher; after he has climbed, he wants to sit there; and when he has sat down, he would like to have a roof over his head.” These sheltered patios provide an unmatched vantage point for the unfolding view. But [...]]]> Architect Jaak Kangro of Nordicasa Design & Construction sent us some amazing photos of his latest architectural endeavor – a gorgeous timber home design located in the Valdelineares ski resort in Spain. Built almost entirely from 165 mm laminated pinewood, this wood clad house boasts a rustic mountain cottage feel both inside and out. But this mountain house isn't without its modern touches, like the tiny peek-a-boo window slots peppering the front facade, and a stone-finished front entrance flanked by windows that offers a small view of what’s inside. The rear face of the home features glass walls that open to the outdoors. Interiors are as wonderfully woody as the exterior, giving each room a country-chic feel. The open-concept main floor is conducive to socializing; you can sit in any area and still have a view of what’s cooking in the kitchen and the living room fireplace and the dining nook. Interestingly, the kitchen features a much-more modern aesthetic, temporarily straying from natural wood to be replaced by contemporary white cabinets, countertops and a horizontal window backsplash. A combination of two houses, this unusual house separates the living and [...]]]> Slovenian architecture firm Superform, known for their progressive architecture, furniture and interior design, has delivered on all these expectations (and then some!) with a progressive timber home design in the town of Ljubno ob Savinji, about 70 kilometers from Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana. A combination of two houses, this unusual house separates the living and socializing areas in two very different buildings, each designed to respond to its specific purpose. Tending toward the more traditional side, a timber and stone structure is occupied by the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen in a massive, monolith of a house characterized by its private design; wood-clad with windows shuttered for privacy from the outdoors. The home’s social spaces can be found in its second, boat-like structure made of glass, steel, Rheinzink and wood. Here, the living room, dining room and a large hall invite the outdoors in through an expansive glass wall, sliding open to the patio overlooking the pool. Superform

Urban Outfitter's is launching a global campaign to make sure unwanted Polaroid stock doesn't go unloved, and maybe even persuade Polaroid to produce instant film cameras again. This year Polaroid announced it was going to stop producing instant film, spelling the end for the classic Polaroid camera. Now Urban Outfitters worldwide is teaming up with The Impossible Project who recently purchased all of the dead stock, plus all the machinery and equipment at Polaroid's Netherlands factory before it closed. Together the two hope to bring back the Polaroid camera in 2010 and are launching their campaign globally today. Today, August 21st selected New York, London and L.A Urban Outfitters' stores will launch limited edition Polaroid camera kits containing one pack of specially preserved 779 film and one 600 classic Polaroid camera. The stores will also be selling recovered Polaroid film, so that anyone with a camera can start using it again. Fabulous!!

Rodarte, designed by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, is best known for its breathtaking detail, edgy styling and devoted celeb clientele, like Reese Witherspoon who chose their ethereal gown for this year’s Oscars. And come December, they’ll be known for their affordable collection for Target, according to WWD. The sisters have signed on to design a 55-piece collection for Target’s Go International program to launch on December 20, with prices ranging from $10 for knee-highs to $80 for a leopard-print jacket. So what to expect of the line? Feminine yet modern…expect exquisite details from the Rodarte collection that incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. Rodarte is all about layering…so you will see both stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints together. After a long wait for the return of Project Runway, the show’s new network is giving you an extra dose of designer drama. Lifetime has officially announced the list of contestants returning to compete in Project Runway: All-Star Challenge, a two-hour special, set to air before the season 6 premiere of Project Runway on Aug. 20. Daniel Vosovic and Santino Rica of season 2, Jeffrey Sebelia, Uli Herzner and Mychael Knight of season 3, Chris March and Sweet P of season 4 and season 5’s Korto Momolu will compete against each other for a $100,000 prize. Tim Gunn will be on hand to guide them in the workroom before they face judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia on the runway. Immediately following the All-Star Challenge, it’s time for the newest crop of designers to step into the spotlight with the much-anticipated season 6 premiere. Can’t wait!! Fabulous!!

The minimal make-up look is the holy grail of beauty but unless you have perfect skin it is almost always trickier than any heavy, full blown party look. On the catwalks it was seen from Burberry Prorsum to Jil Sander, where make -up was clean and simple. The key to this look is the right base, essential when creating a super clear complexion that should be even and just a little dewy (not too shiny). Next the lips which can be blotted with a rose pink stain and finally the eyes…frame with subtle putty shadows and a quick slick of mascara. If you want to get technical…contouring will add depth to the look, a light bronzer slicked along the base of cheek bones and a subtle highlighter above will give you the appearance of model bone structure in no-time. So this summer, less is obviously more. Fabulous!!
