You never know what lies beneath.

Some businessmen apparently feel that their daily uniform — pressed shirt, demure-colored suit, and tie — does not adequately reflect their personality. How can they possibly express that they're more than, well, a suit? That in their non-working hours they play drums in an almost-decent Grateful Dead cover band, or have a thriving seashell collection, or hold the highest record on Angry Birds probably in the state, if not the country? Well, The Wall Street Journal has some advice for these men:

The trick is navigating how much to push the personalization. The look must be comfortable and confident, never forced or affected. Taken too far a man risks being accused of having a mid-life crisis or becoming a slave to fashion.

Of course, a mid-life crisis is far more embarrassing than having one's creativity squelched. So, how to express oneself in a risk-free manner? The answer, according Saks's men's fashion director Eric Jennings, is a nice "leather or beaded bracelet" worn discreetly beneath one's shirt cuff. "When you're reaching for your glass of wine or fork, [others] will see a flash of it," he explains.

Robin Walker, a Chicago-based image strategist, agrees:

Leather bracelets, called wristlets, can be worn above a watch for a personalized look. Ms. Walker says one of her clients, who is more rock'n'roll when off the clock, wears a skull and crossbones bracelet under his suit to reflect that part of his personality.

She approves. "The outside of the suit is for everybody else, the inside is for you," she says.

But that also begs the question: if there's a bracelet up your sleeve and no one can see it, is it really there? Or, more importantly, who cares?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended a press conference in Shanghai, China yesterday to promote her new movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. She wore a white Dolce & Gabbana dress (modified slightly from the label's 2011 spring collection) with a delicate lacy pattern and floral appliqués. She completed the look with a pair of nude heels.

This is a much sweeter, more girly dress than the over-the-top gowns she's been wearing throughout most of her Transformers tour. Do you like this new direction, or does it err on the saccharine side?

This is a man who likes the way he smells.

Things Tom Ford doesn't like: penis fear; immediacy; rules other people follow; naked fear; being pressured to design things that are "new" when actually he'd rather just make the things he made last season. He spoke to the L.A. Times about his fall 2011 womenswear collection — his second showing of namesake ladies' things — which a select few editors get to view in London. Critics are not special enough to be on that list this season:

"I don't want to be reviewed," he says. "I'm not an artist with an opening; this is not a film. I'm just trying to make pretty clothes. And beautiful clothes make beautiful women, but sometimes they don't make fashion news. I don't want to be pushed to think about what we have that's new when we don't need anything new except another version of what we did last year that still looks good to me."

Fashionista reports that the people who got to view the new collection in London during Fashion Week were forced to sign nondisclosure agreements. Otherwise, how could Team Tom let the people with the cell phones ... near the clothes?!

But for all the exuberant praise that's been lavished on Ford's signature perfectionism and fabulousness, he refreshingly admits that he has a human side to his nature — a human side that thrives off packaged doughnuts and prime-time soap operas.

When asked about weaknesses in the facade, the only things he can come up with are fondnesses for Hostess doughnuts and "Desperate Housewives." "Maybe I do project an image that's a little hard," he says. "Though it seems to work, so maybe I better not mess with it."

In that vein, on turning 50 this year:

"When I was a kid, I always wanted to be 50," he says. "I didn't feel comfortable as a kid. I wasn't good at sports. I wanted to read things other kids weren't reading. I wanted to be at my parents' cocktail parties and mix martinis..."

New fall looks from Giles Deacon, Paul Smith, and Marios Schwab.

It's the last day of London Fashion Week, and the final shows are trickling in. Corseted shapes and glossy black fur dominated Giles Deacon's collection, which he accessorized with large hair bows and ribbon-laced boots. Paul Smith's show was even more menswear-inspired than usual, with bespectacled models slouching down the runway in cropped pants and neckties. Meanwhile, Marios Schwab turned out dresses that were nipped at the waist and studded with round cream-colored beads. See them all in our London runway galleries.

Nicola Formichetti's styling work for Lady Gaga constitutes just some of the spectacular images he's produced, with credits including Japanese Men's Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and V, among others. Lanvin's spring 2011 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel, may be our favorite of the season, because there's nothing better than two models fighting. Models Iselin Steiro and Kinga Rajzak claw at each other and drag each other across the floor by their ankles, in a room filled with nice plush cushions and fur rugs that would be great for "movie night." The concept of two women fighting over Lanvin makes perfect sense and actually quite accurately embodies how many ladies and real-life Gossip Girl types feel about the brand. It also capitalizes on the same raw hot lesbian sex appeal that made Black Swan so intriguing. Will spring 2011 become the season of the catfight?
