IVY HOTEL SHANGHAI
Article or RSS item submitted by Ty Wenzel • Jun 22nd, 2009 • Category: Interiors Exteriors, Style Trend Forcasting |For this former 1950s cinema situated within a hip residential area, American-French designer Dillon Garris delights with an avant-garde design: a one that arrests the eye with its ivy-clad exterior and recalls the alleys of Shanghai with the funky lipstick-red lattice screens and gray brick walls on the inside.
'Blue skies and white clouds' above the central courtyard lend a whimsical touch to the trendy interiors. Neon colors, pop art and subtle references to traditional Chinese architecture and culture lend a modern touch to the space.
These thoughtful details can also be seen in the custom-designed furnishings, in the traditional red silk vanity pouches, and in the red cashmere throws.
