I came across the wonderful modern portraiture of Kristine Baerlin, the artist behind Figment Portraits, whose work is reminiscent of post-modern artists, Chuck Close, Andy Warhol and Lichtenstein - modern mavericks. Only Kristine's subjects are nearly always children, the jewels of any family. Each piece is hand-painted, signed and guaranteed a treasure to last a life-time. And they make perfect gifts as well!
Kristine Baerlin is a Brooklyn-based artist and designer with years of experience working with a variety of materials and media. She is a graduate of the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art. With a technique that transforms the familiar to the fanciful, her work has been featured on HGTV and various local galleries.
