The anchoring philosophy of Botanist furniture is the "blank canvas." What this means is taking a technologically advanced but sustainable piece of furniture that is simple - then giving the twist of different colors, finishes and graphics that make them fresh and new, upgradeable from season to season.
The Process:
Each piece starts as a flat piece of recyclable aluminum. The sheets are pre-stamped with a hydraulic press into their outer defining forms. The dimensions are engineered to maximize material yield leaving the least amount of scrap possible.
Then the blanks are water-jet cut with the designers "artwork". Using a computer controlled hydraulic forming press each piece is then bent into the correct shapes then a center cross beam located along the underside is welded in key locations to maximize strength. The units are then powder-coated with a custom color to match the Pantone color specified by the designer.
Lastly the feet are secured. A plastic sleeve protects the finished goods which are then packed in a corrugated box ready for shipment anywhere in the world. Our manufacturing lead times are three weeks or less.
