The best way to keep things looking up to date…especially if you’re on a credit-crunching budget…is good accessorizing. A few well-chosen pieces can instantly lift a simple outfit…and now that its summer…Let’s talk shades. Stars from Victoria Beckham to Kylie and Mary-Kate Olsen can’t leave the house without them, and with reports of ever-stronger UV rays…it turns out, neither should we! When it comes to eyewear, like most accessories, the past few seasons have been all about super-sizing. However, the refined ‘40s style that dominated the catwalks last autumn/winter has proven to be a great source of inspiration for sunglass designers. This season, we’ll be contrasting our mega-flared, ‘70s-style wide-leg jeans, with (by comparison) miniature ‘30s and ‘40s-look frames. Think Chloë Sevigny when you’re wearing these quirky little characters. Ray-Ban Wayfarers and ‘50s-style cats-eye frames are great for wearing on the beach with a retro, high-waisted bikini, but if you’re looking to keep things a bit more contemporary, you can’t beat the ‘90s. Worn by Sienna Miller and Rachel Bilson, AM Eyewear is one of the hottest sunglass labels around at the moment, and their playful take on the classic aviator is fabulous.
