AOL’s Platform-A Expands to Europe
Platform-A has announced its European expansion today, aligning with the AOL advertising operations that are already in existence in Europe, including Advertising.com, Adtech and buy.at. Having been built on the success of AOL’s existing advertising programs, as well as a way to incorporate the recently acquired Tacoda and Third Screen Media, Platform-A was created with a global presence in mind.
This advertising platform represents AOL’s shift towards a more unified ad-based model, which is a major change for a company that operated for years under a subscription service for users to access its Internet portal. AOL has indicated that this first step towards global expansion will continue to grow, and the company hopes to have Platform-A available across the globe by the end of the year.
The benefits of offering a conduit for European ads are presented to marketers as a multi-faceted way in which to brand themselves on a larger scale. Incorporating mobile, video, behavioral and social media ads are a handful of Platform-A’s options, and as more online networks look to grow their presence on a global scale, monetizing local markets is important as well.
Tremor Media has also taken steps to offer worldwide advertising options–with investment from the Samwer brothers’ European Founders Fund, Tremor Media has solidified its European intentions as well, and even taken one of Platform-A’s former executives, Mark Pinney, along for the ride as its new CFO.
