Yeah baby - Shag has made a major comeback! If you want to soften the edges of a mid-century style room or an ultra-modern stark room, nothing will bring the look together like a soft shag rug. I just got mine today and I am just swimming in shag-a-lag and loving every minute of it!

I have a budget so I had to shop places I knew would be affordable so I got this one at Walmart (yes, you heard me right). When my son, Kyle, whose 6, came into my office and asked if I ordered a rug, I knew that it had arrived. I jumped up and down, ran to the door and there it was.

I was surprised at the beauty of it. It’s large (5′x8′) and only $69.98.

No. Really.

My son and I started dancing on it as soon as we unraveled it, singing Shag-a-lag Shag-a-lag . He pretended to cannonball into the ocean of shag from the sofa. Over and over again.

Granted, I have guilt. Big time guilt.  The crux of it is my suspicion of what has to be going on for a gorgeous rug this size to be only $69.98 - it has to be some kind of slavery.

In fact, when my husband came in, I looked at him and said, “It has that new inexpensive rug smell - the smell of Chinese thirteen year olds.” I worry so much about it. I wish I could know for sure.

What the hell does that mean? I’d feel a lot better if it were indeed made in the USA, but for that price, it probably isn’t. Oy. Vey.
