House Tour: Modern Layers NYT 3.16.08

This apartment in the United Nations Plaza building was recently featured in The New York Times T Style Magazine. As usual, author Pilar Viladas covers the cream of the housing crop. The story's focus is on the depth and multiple layers of "stuff" that is beautifully edited and displayed within the space. It's colorful without being clownish, and a terrific example of "modern cozy." It's our new favorite, so check it out...

The 1,700-square-foot apartment is owned by Benjamin Pardo (senior vice president for design at Knoll) and David Gresham (industrial designer and former global vice president of design for Steelcase). The renovation was designed by Joe D'Urso.

This is a view looking down on the two-tiered coffee table in the living room. It was designed by D'urso for Knoll in the 1980s (at left):

Don't miss this one! The story and slideshow (including super-informative captions) are online at The New York Times: The New Order. After reading the story in print, and then experiencing it online, we still can't get enough!
