Back in the 90s, I used to go to a restaurant on Third Avenue called Flamingo East. The dining room had a striking mesh curtain that gave the moody lighting a lot of sparkle - very urban yet glamorous even in the downtown basement lounge that it was. I think a wonderful foil to today's "Green" design, is to incorporate elements of metal that balance out the "hippie" vibe one can land in whilst going green in the first place. Foils are important for balancing a look, so I'd like to focus on the metal / mesh curtain and partition elements that can really add urban pop to any decor.

In New York, I've often seen the metal mesh used in restaurants, lounges and clubs. One such example is the cozy Lotus, where the chain mail curtains add a sort of transparent privacy.
