Green with Envy for the 2008 Design Trends

This year, make your motto: “A clean slate in 2008!” It’s time to throw out the old, and bring in the newest modern furnishings for your home!
The latest 2008 interior design trends are going green. “Green” environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products are expected to continue to increase as homeowners strive to conserve natural resources and save money on utility bills.
In addition to saving green by going green, homeowners are also seeing green. This year’s 2008 design trends are all about the color green, whether it’s on walls, furniture, or other home accent pieces. Green is a popular color for homes because it is brighter and bolder than tans, but is still gender and age neutral. Greens are considered to be cool colors and evoke a relaxed feeling of tranquility and peacefulness. For those who believe in luck, the color green is also associated with good fortune.
So, how can you incorporate this year’s newest trends to modernize your existing contemporary home décor? It’s easy – think small. There’s no need to redecorate your entire home to resemble your front lawn. Choose one room or a few adjoining rooms and start by adding a variety of modern green-toned accent pieces to the room, such as a George Kovacs floor lamp with apple green glass in your bedroom, a green printed Kartell Mademoiselle chair in your living room, or iittala Kartio glassware sets in moss green in your kitchen.
Also, don’t be afraid to mix and match. Contrasting your existing wall color with fresh green accents is very modern and chic this year. Add a few of their accent pillows, a throw, and a rug to your existing décor, and you are well on your way to updating your room for 2008!
