AT Europe Question: Classic American in Amsterdam?

Matt from Amsterdam writes:
I have been living in Amsterdam for 2 years and just bought my first apartment that I am now renovating. There is one piece I have longed for since my first apartment in Tallahassee 15 years ago.
It’s the classic armchair you can imagine in some Montana ranch, you know the big leather cocoon that envelopes you completely, allowing you to come out for air every 3 days or so…
Looking around the web, I can find a few examples similar to what’s in my head: The Levenger Bomber Jacket chair (pictured above), or the Pottery Barn Pearce or Manhattan. But in my searches around town I can only find the modern European chair: terse, functional, blah. Do you have any ideas on where I can find my reminder of home?
Dear Matt,
AT Europe has come up empty on this one, apart from the suggestion that you forget your idea of recreating American comfort in the Netherlands and instead seek out a local equivalent in Amsterdam’s flea markets.
Another idea is to check European ebay in the hope that you may find an expat castoff that can be shipped to you in Amsterdam. And Ruth in Amsterdam suggests placing an ad in the English-language Amsterdam Weekly.
Anyone else?
